CBS Blackout Wars
So you pay all that money for DirecTV and they are going to cut you off from CBS? Ouch. Those of us who are cord cutters don’t have this problem. Our HD Antennas will get CBS as long as it is around.
Denver 4, our local CBS station, has a link on their website. It tells you to call a number to protest DirecTV dropping CBS. Here’s an idea. Call us instead at 303-794-8600. Once we are done with our install, you never need to worry about these blackouts again. Why? Because its free forever when you use an antenna.
And these are not old school antennas. The technology has changed and if it is installed correctly, you will never need to worry about losing signal. In fact, cloudy and rainy days will not interfere with the signal. And there is no such thing as snow build up. That’s right…now more walking outside in your PJs to knock snow of your dish just so you can watch TV.
Now, here is the irony. DirecTV might actually send you an antenna to get CBS. It will be a cheap, indoor antenna that you tape to the wall. It will only work, if it actually does work, on one TV. Every time you walk by it or turn on the microwave the signal will get messed up. This is what Dish did a few years ago when they were in a pricing negotiation with one of the major broadcasters. It did not go well for the customers we talked to.
So, if you do stick with DirecTV after this pricing nonsense, then make sure they discount your broadcast fees. Unlike us cord cutters, you pay ~$150 per year to watch ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, PBS and FOX. Cord cutters don’t pay fees and don’t experience blackouts.
