Prime Time not on Prime Time?
On Friday my wife and I went to Breckenridge to get away for a night. On the way home on Saturday we stopped in at a McCalls Park Bar after touring South Park City museum in Fairplay. The talk of the restaurant was all about the CU Buffs. More appropriately the conversations had more to do with frustration that the bar could not show the CU vs. TCU game. The bar got its TV service through DirecTV and because of the current blackout between FOX and DirecTV the patrons could not watch the University of Colorado game…in the heart of Colorado.
But here is the funny thing: as we waited for lunch we heard more than one customer ask if the restaurant TVs could get YouTubeTV. If one person had mentioned it, I might have brushed it off. But as it took a while for lunch to come out, I heard at least four people ask the bartenders if they could get YouTubeTV.
While I was recording the game on YouTubeTV to watch later without commercials, I got out my phone in the restaurant, opened up the YouTubeTV app and started watching the game. It was far better watching CU on my phone than watching Oklahoma on the big TV.
PS – The South Park City museum is worth the price of entry ($12) and the food at McCalls Park Bar is very good.
